An individual who spiked treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was detained after eight children and an older person fell ill at the location in July.

The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.

The accused was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.

She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.

Ruben played a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.

She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.

"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."

Mrs Prior KC explained materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his worries.

She said the man went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she stated further.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining the police response of the situation.

The prosecutor explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the police again.

She explained the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
